What Gastronomic Arts Barcelona is and where it operates

Gastronomic Arts Barcelona, which also calls itself GAB LAB, runs its own hands-on paella and tapas cooking classes in central Barcelona, taught by its own chefs. The homepage says all classes are held at Carrer de Lancaster, 10, Bajo 1a, in the Gothic Quarter, "three minutes from Liceu metro, five minutes from Las Ramblas," and places the kitchen "near La Boqueria Market in the heart of Barcelona." The team-building page mentions "two stunning locations, centrally situated for easy access," but the only address the site gives is the Carrer de Lancaster kitchen, 08001 Barcelona. Prices are in euros.

The homepage leads with awards and numbers the company publishes itself: "Barcelona's #1 Paella Cooking Class," a "Tripadvisor Best of the Best 2026" badge with "Top 1% Worldwide," "7,500+ Reviews," guests from "90+" countries and a "4.9/5" average guest rating. Further down it says "8,400+ guests have stood at this stove." The team-building page adds "Top 10 Culinary Experience in Europe (2025)" and "4,000+ Verified 5-Star Reviews." These are the company's own claims, and its testimonials are drawn from Tripadvisor, Google, Viator, GetYourGuide, Airbnb and Cookly.

The classes and what they cost

The signature class is the Ultimate Paella Cooking Class Experience: a guided visit to La Boqueria, a sangria-making workshop and tapas tasting, then a hands-on paella class, dessert and a farewell toast. The homepage lists it "From €107 per person," with a maximum of 12 guests, as a 3 hour class that runs every day, with start times of 10:00, 11:00, 14:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 19:00.

The Private Paella Cooking Class and Market Tour is the same format for one group of up to 6, "From €139 per person (price varies on group size)," with daily starts at 10:00, 14:00 and 18:00. Groups of 7 or more are sent to the private group page.

Rhythm and Taste pairs the paella class with a live flamenco show for €149 per person, with a group of up to 12. The cooking runs 14:00 to 17:00 and the flamenco show 18:30 to 19:30, "Approx. 5.5 hours in total (includes 1.5 hour break)," and the step-by-step section says the show is held at "one of Barcelona's most historic tablaos."

The class menu also lists a Hands-On Sangria and Tapas Cooking Class, a La Boqueria Market Tour and Tasting, a Sweet Escape Bake and Take Workshop, a Barcelona Nights premium cocktail experience and a special holiday baking workshop. The homepage does not price these.

How a class runs

The homepage walks through the day. The chef meets guests at the entrance of La Boqueria and leads them through the stalls to choose ingredients. Back in the kitchen, guests mix "your own jug of classic Spanish sangria" and taste tapas, then cook paella from scratch, learning "the sofrito base, the perfect rice ratio, and the signature socarrat crust." Everyone eats together, and the class ends with a homemade dessert, a toast and printed recipes. The site says the sangria is unlimited and that the market visit is part of morning, afternoon and evening classes, noting that "The market is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays."

The site is specific on practical details. "Every public class is capped at 12 guests." The site says "We run sessions in English, Spanish, and French." On diet, it says vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and "most allergy requirements" are accommodated, and asks guests to note them at booking. Sessions run "from 2.5 hours (Tapas Workshop) to 4.5 hours (Paella and Flamenco evening)." The FAQ calls the classes suitable for "all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced home cooks," and the homepage says "Our chefs adapt pace and technique to the group." The site also offers an AI assistant called Maria for class recommendations and availability.

Booking, gift cards and team events

Classes are booked online. The homepage states "FREE CANCELLATION up to 24 hours" and "RESERVE TODAY WITH JUST A 50% DEPOSIT." Gift cards are sold as digital cards "delivered instantly by email," "Valid for any class or experience," "Available in any denomination," and with "no expiry pressure."

Private events are a big part of the business. The homepage says the company runs fully private classes "From intimate groups of 2 to large corporate teams of 50+," for hen parties, birthdays and family celebrations. The team-building page lists formats including a Paella Team Masterclass with a market visit, sangria workshop and recipe books to take home; a Tapas and Sangria Workshop with "Multiple tapas stations"; a Spanish Baking Lab; and a Flamenco and Flavor Night with a family-style meal. Add-ons are priced: "Wine Pairing & Tasting (€35 pp)," "Cocktail Class (€25 pp)," "Dessert Workshop (€22 pp)," plus branded aprons, a team photo and a printed recipe booklet. On capacity, the page says "Group Sizes Up to 32 people," while its FAQ answer reads "Up to 60 in our central Barcelona kitchen. Up to 200 at select offsite venues." Events run as 2 to 4 hour sessions or full-day events, menus can be vegan, gluten-free or halal, and the page names past clients including Amazon, Samsung, Tripadvisor and Ticketmaster.

What the site leaves open, and who it suits

The site does not say where its second location is. It prices the paella formats but not the tapas, baking, cocktail or market tour classes, and the two group-size figures on the team page (32 and 60) do not agree. The 24-hour free cancellation is stated for the public classes; the team-building page does not set out the terms for group events in its text. The site does not name its chefs, though guest reviews mention several by first name.

Gastronomic Arts Barcelona suits travelers who want a lively, social paella class with a market visit, published prices and start times, a 12-guest cap and teaching in English, Spanish or French. Families, couples and solo travelers are all named as its audience, and the private and corporate program covers groups from a couple to a large team.
