Barcelona Private Tour Guide is a private guiding business based in Barcelona, Spain, built around its lead guide, Javier, and it runs its own tours for one party at a time: city tours in Barcelona and day trips from the city to Montserrat, the Penedès wine region and Girona. The site lists its services as private tours with chauffeured deluxe vehicles, private walking tours, public transport tours, tailor-made tours and barrier-free tours, all with "Outstanding official guides authorized by the government." The about page says Javier worked as a tour guide for 7 years in Spain and Europe before starting as a local guide in Barcelona in 1996, and that he went to work at the Sagrada Família in 1999 to learn about Antoni Gaudí. In his own account he could "go up and down the bell towers every day," learned from the architects in their studio, had the Passion facade explained by the sculptor Subirachs, and met the Japanese sculptor Etsuro Sotoo, who showed him how he worked. The about page says he speaks 7 languages, among them English and Japanese, and the services list offers fluent guides in English, Japanese, French, German, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Catalan.

The tours

The site sorts its tours by length. The Premium Tour, which it calls its bestseller, is the Gaudí tour with Javier himself. Full-day tours (up to 8 hours) are the Old Town Tour, the Tailor Tour, where the client chooses the sites, and the Gaudí Tour. Half-day tours (up to 4 hours) are the Old Town Tour, the Gaudí Tour, Montjuic and Waterfront, Sagrada Familia and Camp Nou, and Tapas and Wines. The Old Town tour centers on the Gothic Quarter, which the site describes as the historical heart of Barcelona with narrow medieval streets and hidden squares. The site stresses that any combination can be built around a client's interests, and says it can also arrange extras such as golf, shopping, restaurants, sailing, Ferrari drives and wine tasting.

The day trips are the Montserrat Tour, the Winery Tour and the Girona Tour. The Winery Tour page gives the most detail. The half-day Penedès Wine Tour starts with a one-hour drive to the Penedès area, "often referred to as the Catalan Tuscany," for a tasting at one winery. Option 1 visits 2 wineries with lunch in the area and a return to Barcelona around 4:30 PM. Option 2 pairs Montserrat with a winery; the page describes Montserrat as a monastery "perched atop a spectacular rocky mountain," home to Benedictine monks and a boys' choir, where guests can visit the basilica and the Black Madonna. Option 3 adds lunch and a stroll in the coastal village of Sitges, and Option 4 adds a Catalan chocolate factory. The FAQ on that page says the drive to Montserrat takes about 1 hour, that the hike to Sant Miguel's Cross is moderate and takes about 45 minutes round trip, that the company handles tickets for the cable car or funicular, and that a visit to the Escolania boys' choir or a mass can be fitted in if timing allows.

On the day

Every tour is private: the fees page says "Our tours are private for your party only. No strangers joining your tour." The listed prices cover groups of up to 6; larger groups are asked to request a minibus price, and the site says it does not work with big groups. Fees assume services starting and ending in Barcelona city, with travel expenses added for clients based elsewhere. On a "guide only" booking, the client pays for transport, whether taxi, train or their own vehicle. On family trips, the Montserrat FAQ says the tour can be adapted for children or older travelers with shorter hikes; that is the company's statement, and the site does not detail what its barrier-free tours involve.

The 2026 fees page states "Prices are Per Tour, not Per Person." The Premium Tour with Javier costs 1330 € for 7 to 8 hours with the guide only, 2000 € with a car for up to 2 people, or 2065 € with a van for up to 6. The 4-hour version is 665 €, 1000 € or 1035 €, and the 2.5-hour version is 490 €, 825 € or 860 €, with extra hours at 170 €, 255 € or 260 €. The standard city tours are 960 €, 1620 € or 1700 € for 7 to 8 hours, 480 €, 810 € or 850 € for 4 hours, and 120 €, 205 € or 215 € per extra hour. Entrance fees and lunch are not included, and the Winery Tour FAQ adds that clients also cover the guide's lunch. An airport transfer to a hotel or cruise terminal costs 150€ with a tour or 175€ on its own, the company will buy attraction tickets for a 100€ service fee (free with a tour, ticket prices extra), and there is a luggage supplement of 36€.
