Who runs it and where it goes

Moroccan Journeys is a travel company that plans and runs trips in Morocco. The footer names Moroccan Journeys Limited, a UK registered company (No. 09459692) based in Somersham, Cambridgeshire, and describes it as "fully insured". The team page calls it "a British/Berber team of experienced travellers and dynamic local guides": the UK side handles planning and advice, and the Moroccan side includes its 4x4 drivers, camel trekking guides and Sahara camp teams. Its trips start mostly from Marrakech and reach the Atlas Mountains, Aït Ben Haddou and the Draa Valley, the Sahara at Merzouga, Zagora and Erg Chigaga, Fes, and the Atlantic coast from Essaouira and Oualidia to Taghazout and Agadir. The company's own desert base is Nubia Luxury Camp in the Erg Chigaga dunes.

Treks, walks and rides

For walkers and riders, the Walking and Riding menu lists an Atlas Mountains and Sahara Walking Tour, an Atlantic Coast Walking Tour, a Walking Holiday in the Sahara Desert, an Atlantic Horse Riding Tour, a Merzouga Desert Camel and Horse Trek and a Sahara Horse Trekking Tour. The Activities menu adds a Sahara 50K Trek, a Spa and Hike Weekend, Cookery, Spa and Hike, and Surf, Yoga and Hike, plus yoga retreats in Marrakech and Ouarzazate and a "Return to Source Retreat". The team page explains the wellness thread: director Rebecca Hutley is a yoga teacher and Reiki Master Teacher who has run retreats in Morocco for the last five years.

The touring side is broad. Morocco tours include the Ultimate Morocco Tour, The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs Tour and Sahara to the Sea. Sahara tours include a Luxury Marrakech Desert Tour, a Nomadic Sahara Tour, Sahara and Kasbahs, a Merzouga, Fes and Chef Tour and a Merzouga and Zagora Tour. Beach tours include Atlantic Beach, Atlantic Surf, Surf and Berber Culture, Coast and Camel Trek, Essaouira and Oualidia, and a Luxury Morocco Beach Tour; the beach page says these use 4x4 transport and include half-board meals, breakfast and dinner. Day trips from Marrakech go to the Atlas Mountains, Essaouira beach, the Ouzoud Waterfalls, Aït Ben Haddou, Lake Takerkoust and the Ourika Valley. The beach page also sets out distances from Marrakech: Essaouira is about 154 kilometers, around a two-hour drive, and Agadir about 238 kilometers, around four hours. It lists coastal options by traveler, from surf lessons in Taghazout and kitesurfing in Essaouira to snorkeling in the Oualidia lagoon and dolphin-watching boat trips, and the homepage FAQ names spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) as the best seasons for most of the country.

The Erg Chigaga camp and getting there

Nubia Luxury Camp is central to the company. The philosophy page calls it "at the heart of this philosophy" and describes tent suites built with local materials, traditional methods and sustainable energy. The site sells stays with published 2026 tent suite rates, dining under the stars, a private camp for exclusive hire, and desert weddings, corporate retreats and group events.

The location page is unusually practical. It gives the camp's coordinates, says Erg Chigaga lies about 50km west of M'Hamid El Ghizlane and 360km south of Marrakech, and puts the drive from Marrakech at about 8½ hours by private 4x4, with common stopovers in Aït Ben Haddou, Agdz or Zagora. The alternative is to fly to Zagora and continue about 3 hours off-road, or to take a helicopter on request. The page says vehicles are air-conditioned Toyota Land Cruisers "carrying up to 6 passengers", that "all drivers speak English", and that vehicles carry water, recovery equipment and satellite communication. Guests self-driving part of the way are met in Ouarzazate or Zagora for the off-road section. Transfer costs are quoted on request, and the page says the best road conditions run from October to April. It also describes the classic overland route: through the Atlas Mountains and Berber villages to Aït Ben Haddou for lunch, down the palm-lined Draa Valley to Zagora and M'hamid El Ghizlane, then an off-road dune drive and a sunset camel trek into camp. The dunes, the page says, cover roughly 40km and reach 300 meters, and soft bags are easiest to stow in the 4x4s.

Guides, groups and the day itself

The site says its Moroccan guides "have extensive local knowledge", and the team page introduces Mohamed Elhaoissi, a Berber from the nomadic desert people who grew up in M'hamid El Ghizlane and speaks English, French and Arabic. The homepage says itineraries for 2026 are flexible and that the company works "with individuals, groups and families" and also runs large group tours and events. Its FAQ says solo travelers can join group tours with like-minded travelers. Reviews shown on the site name individual drivers and guides and describe 4-day trips from Marrakech to the Sahara with a night in a desert camp and a sunset camel ride. The Tripadvisor widget shows "Excellent" based on 143 reviews.

What the site leaves open, and who it suits

No tour in the site's menus shows a price, even though the beach page says it has been updated with 2026 pricing, so costs come by quote. Deposit, payment and cancellation terms are not given on the tour pages; the footer links Terms and Conditions. Group sizes for the shared tours are not given, beyond the 6-passenger vehicles described for desert transfers, and the walking tours are listed by name without distances or difficulty grades.

Moroccan Journeys suits travelers who want a tailored Morocco trip built around the Sahara, with a real desert camp at the end of the road, or who want walking, riding or a yoga retreat folded into a tour.
