Nepal Hiking Team is a trekking and tour operator based in Kathmandu that runs its own guided treks with its own guides and porters. The homepage says that "In 2009, two brothers, Mr. Ganga Thapa and Mr. Balaram Thapa, started Nepal Hiking Team", and the about page calls it "a family-run business". The head office is listed at Nayabazar-16, Kathmandu. Its "Where You Can Go?" section names Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. It also names international representatives in Australia (Gold Coast), Latin America (San Jose, Costa Rica) and Switzerland (Uster), and the team page lists a Europe sales director. Prices are in US dollars.

The site leans hard on its record. The homepage shows 5.0 from 2838 TripAdvisor reviews and "#1 of 3046 Outdoor Activities in Kathmandu", and a banner reads "Winner 2012 - 2026 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence" (the about page says 2012 to 2025). The about page lists 25+ years of field experience, 10,000+ trips operated, 28,000+ trekkers and travelers guided and a 99.5% success rate, and the founders' pages speak of 300+ team members. It names memberships of the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN), the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP), the Nepal Tourism Board and the Nepal Mountaineering Association, and the footer gives tourism license No.1033.

Treks across the Nepal Himalaya

The homepage counts 105 Nepal trekking itineraries, 16 Nepal tours and 10 peak climbing itineraries, and groups the treks by region. The Everest menu runs from the 16-day and 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek to heli versions of 11 and 12 days, a 16-day luxury EBC trek, the 15-day Gokyo Lake trek, the 19-day EBC trek with Chola Pass and the 16-day Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek. Bhutan has tours from 4 to 10 days, the 7-day Druk Path Trek and the 12-day Chomolhari Trek; the 5-day Glimpse of Bhutan Tour shows US $1450. A 16-day Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan tour and a 10-day Nepal and Bhutan tour combine countries.

Outside trekking, the menu lists day tours, helicopter tours, short hikes, wildlife tours, photography tours, river rafting and Nepal tour packages such as the 9-day Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan tour and the 14-day Best of Nepal tour.

Guides, safety and the team

The team page names the people behind it: the co-founders, a head of customer care, an airport representative, a sustainability manager, a Europe sales director, a long list of trekking guides and tour leaders, and climbing leaders including an expedition leader, Dorchi Sherpa. Ganga Raj Thapa's page says he started as a trekking assistant, worked 17 years for other companies and has trekked in every region of Nepal; Balaram Thapa's page says he holds a Bachelor's in Travel and Tourism from Tribhuvan University and oversees logistics and sales.

On safety the homepage FAQ says lead guides "have undergone extensive First Aid training" and carry first aid kits, oximeters, oxygen cylinders and rescue equipment, that itineraries have built-in acclimatization days, and that travel insurance is mandatory and must cover helicopter evacuation. The about page says the company raised USD 51,920 after the 2015 earthquake for rebuilding, medical care and supplies. Reviews quoted on the about page, the company's own selection, mention airport pickups, a pre-trek briefing in Kathmandu and stays at the WoodApple Hotel.

Booking and contact

The FAQ answers "Can I choose a private tour, which can be customized?" with "Yes", saying itineraries can be tailored to your dates, and the homepage's Trip of the Month is the 16-day Langtang Gosaikunda Trek at US $995. The FAQ promises "flexible payments", and the header links to a "Risk-Free Booking Policy", a How to Book page, terms and conditions and a flight cancellation guide. The company's age is stated several ways (2009 founding, 25+ years of field experience, "more than three decades" in the FAQ), so the figures do not line up.
