What Wild Horizons is and where it operates

Wild Horizons is a Victoria Falls company that runs its own activities and its own safari lodges. Its homepage calls it "the top adventure tour operator in Victoria Falls" and says the team has worked there since 1981, with "a combined 256 years of guiding expertise". The office address is 310 Park Way Avenue, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The experiences menu lists Victoria Falls, Livingstone, Chobe and Cape Town. Victoria Falls and the Zambezi are the core. The FAQ places Chobe National Park "just over an hour's drive away in Botswana", and a recent blog post announces a half-day cruise and lunch in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront.

The company is an operator rather than an agent. The FAQ says "We run well-organised Chobe day trips with comfortable transfers, knowledgeable guides and all inclusions taken care of", the bike tour is "led by knowledgeable local guides", and the lodges are described as "each thoughtfully designed and built by Wild Horizons". The homepage says the business is "owner managed by a team of highly motivated industry professionals", and its Instagram line sums it up as activities, transfers and luxury lodges in Victoria Falls.

Activities, cruises and day trips

The "Top Attractions" block on the homepage lists the core products. The Zambezi Royal Sunset Cruise sails the upper Zambezi at golden hour, and the site promises hippos, elephants and birdlife "with 5-star canapés, cocktails and views". There is also a Zambezi Sundowner cruise and a Zambezi Dinner Cruise, which the site describes as combining gourmet dining with the river scenery, and the FAQ names a Malachite Dinner Cruise.

The Chobe Day Trip with Lunch Cruise is "a full-day Chobe safari from Victoria Falls or Livingstone: a morning game drive and an afternoon Chobe River cruise with lunch on board". A plain Chobe Day Trip is listed as well. The FAQ says Chobe is known for large elephant herds and that the boat safari lets guests watch animals drinking and crossing the river.

For the gorge, the site offers white-water rafting on the Zambezi through the Batoka Gorge, which it calls "the best one day rafting experience in the world", plus ziplining, the gorge swing and a canopy tour through the rainforest treetops. Helicopter Flights Victoria Falls is the Flight of Angels: "Choose 12, 25 or 30-minute scenic helicopter tours, departing daily near the Batoka Gorge." A bike tour around Victoria Falls and a guided tour of the Falls complete the day menu.

Cultural experiences are part of the range. The ethical tourism page says Wild Horizons "pioneered home-hosted meals", in which 19 staff members from the Shona, Ndebele, Nambya and Nyanja peoples host visitors at home. The company provides transport, water and soft drinks, and the host family cooks. The FAQ also mentions interactive village visits.

Lodges, events and packages

Wild Horizons runs The Elephant Camp, Old Drift Lodge, Waterfalls Lodge and The Wallow Lodge. The site places The Elephant Camp inside Victoria Falls National Park with views of the Zambezi Gorges and the spray of the Falls, and says guests can book exclusive use of Camp West with "a dedicated guide, private chef, host and game vehicle". Old Drift Lodge is a riverside property inside Zambezi National Park. Waterfalls Lodge sits in expansive gardens in Victoria Falls Town, with several pools and a "lazy river" for children, "where every detail is crafted for your enjoyment". The homepage says The Elephant Camp and Old Drift Lodge were "recognised among Africa's Best Small & Boutique Hotels in Tripadvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards, ranking in the top 1% globally".

The lodge packages are the one place the site describes a bundled deal. The FAQ lists a 4-Night Signature Special (2 nights at The Elephant Camp and 2 at Old Drift Lodge) with one complimentary activity, a 6-Night Signature Special with two, and an 8-Night version with three. The free activities to choose from are a 12/13-minute Flight of Angels, white-water rafting, the Chobe Day Trip and the Malachite Dinner Cruise. The packages section also mentions a Green Season Linger Longer special and a honeymoon special with turn-down service and a dinner with bubbly.

Beyond activities, the menu covers The Lookout Café, which the site calls "Award-Winning Dining", Full Moon Dinners, functions and private events, and wedding packages, with a riverside ceremony along the Zambezi or a celebration "amidst elephants" among the options.

The ethical tourism page says "over a thousand school children" a year visit the Trust, that the company pays the school fees of 67 children at eight rural schools and sponsors three officers of the Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit, and that raincoat hire from local vendors is included in its guided tour of the Falls. Since 2021 it has supported the installation of 62 biogas digesters, and it reports that 80.04% of its staff come from the immediate area.

What the site leaves open, and who it suits

The site does not publish a single activity price, a lodge rate, a deposit rule or a cancellation policy, so every figure comes through the enquiry form or the reservations team. The site does not say how many guests share a rafting raft, a game vehicle or a cruise boat, what minimum ages apply to rafting, the gorge swing or the helicopter flight, or which activities run all year. The Livingstone and Cape Town menus exist, but the homepage names few products beyond the Chobe departure from Livingstone and the SPYCED cruise and lunch.

Wild Horizons suits travelers who want one company to handle a stay in Victoria Falls from lodge to river to gorge, and who like the idea of adding a Chobe day across the border without an overnight. Families get the most detail in its FAQ, and anyone who cares where their money goes will find the conservation and community work set out at length. Travelers who want to compare prices online before making contact will need to wait for a quote.
