Belgian chocolate making classes in Brussels, Bruges and Ghent
Belgian Chocolate Workshop runs its own hands-on chocolate making classes at its own venues in Brussels, Bruges and Ghent, Belgium. It is an operator, not a platform or reseller: the site describes the venues it set up, the facilitators who teach, and what goes into each class. Its pitch is simple: "Learn how to make your own delicious Belgian chocolates from scratch." The site says it offers two different chocolate workshops daily, and it also runs online workshops, live or recorded, for people who cannot get to Belgium. Prices are shown in euros.
The Brussels venue also hosts Waffle Workshops, Beer Tasting Experiences and Beer & Chocolate pairing, which the site says can be combined with a chocolate class.
Two workshops, two levels of difficulty
The main class is the Praline & Mendiants workshop, which the site calls its most popular. It is a 2.5h hands-on activity that the site rates at "average technical difficulty." Participants split into teams of 2 or 3 ("you always stay with whom you booked") and hear some theory on tempering before starting. The site lays out the sequence: temper the chocolate, mold the praline shells, make a ganache for one of the fillings, craft the mendiants, then fill and close the shells. While the chocolate hardens, the group chats over a hot chocolate.
The fee covers the 2.5h workshop "animated in English by one of our skilled facilitator," an apron (non compulsory), all the ingredients and cookware to make 20 pralines and 10+ mendiants, a box to take them home in, and a hot chocolate. The site lists Adult: 56€, Child (12 to 16 years old): 49€, and Student discount: 52€, with the note that "prices are per person and might be higher on busy days." Children must be at least 12, and the site says the class "is long and designed for adults."
The second class is a 1.5h Chocolate Truffles workshop, labeled "Easy & tasty" and described as less technical. The host explains the recipe, demonstrates the steps, and then everyone makes their own truffles with a selection of toppings, packing them to take away while the truffles set in the fridge. The fee covers the workshop hosted in English, an apron, ingredients and cookware for 20+ chocolate truffles, a bag to take them home and a hot chocolate. Prices are Adult: 42€, Child (8 to 16 years old): 36€ and Student discount: 38€, with the same busy-day note. Children from 8 can join.
For both classes, the site says "NO previous cooking experience is required" and that "assistance, ingredients, recipes & cookware are included."
Diets, ages and the day itself
The site says all its workshops are "naturally gluten free & alcohol free" and "can also be made vegan / dairy free / nut free," and that it does not charge extra for special diets. Participants tell the staff at the start and the recipe is adapted. It adds that "we don't eat during the workshop," so someone who cannot eat the result can still make chocolates as a gift. Sugar free, white chocolate and milk chocolate workshops are not available.
Age rules are firm. Younger children and babies are not admitted to either class, with "no exceptions" stated for the truffle workshop, and everyone under 18 must come with a participating adult. For younger children the site points to its Waffle Workshop, "a great family friendly activity available every day."
The Brussels venue is set up inside "a retired typical Belgian Cafe from the XIX Century," which the site says has modern lighting and air conditioning.
Where the venues are
Brussels: Rue des Foulons 30, also signposted as Volderstraat 30 because Brussels streets carry two names. The site puts it "10 minutes walk away from Brussels Grand Place and 10 minutes walk away from Brussels Midi / Zuid." The closest metro and tram stops are Anneessens (lines 4, 10, 32) and Bodegem (lines 51, 82). The site warns that street parking is hard to find.
Bruges: Grauwwerkersstraat 15, on the corner with Naaldenstraat in the old town, "just 5 minutes walk from the Grote Markt." From the train station it is 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by taxi, and the site notes a free shuttle bus from the station to the main square every 20 minutes. Drivers can use street parking, the Biekorf or Ezelstraat Interparking garages, or free parking outside the old town, which the site recommends.
Ghent: Nodenaysteeg 5, on the corner with Predikherenlei, which the site places "inside the pedestrian area in the heart of the city, by the Leie river," 3 minutes on foot from the Korenmarkt. Street works mean entry is through a side door. The station, Gent Sint-Pieters, is about 40 minutes away on foot, and the site suggests the tram to Gent Korenmarkt. The venue is reachable only on foot; Interparking Gent Kouter is one of the closest garages.
At every venue, the site repeats that booking in advance is compulsory and that "if you show up without a booking you won't able to take part in the activity."
Booking, groups and gifts
Each workshop has its own schedule on the site, and public classes are booked through its Book link. Groups and customized workshops go through a separate groups & private page and direct contact: private@belgianchocolateworkshop.com, +32 2 881 0178, or a WhatsApp support group. The truffle workshop is available for groups up to 15 participants. The site says private workshops "are sometimes available in other languages than English, such as French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese and more."
Gift vouchers come with an open date and are "valid for 6 months from the purchase date." Online workshops can be sold with one of the company's chocolate making kits, or on their own with an ingredient list to buy beforehand.
What the site leaves open, and who it suits
The site does not state a cancellation or refund policy for public classes; the menu links to an FAQ, and that is where a buyer would need to look. It says prices "might be higher on busy days" without saying which days or by how much. Class sizes for public sessions are not given, beyond the teams of 2 or 3 in the praline class, and the site does not say whether private workshops in other languages cost more.
What it does settle is a lot of the practical detail: fixed prices by age, firm minimum ages, full addresses with transport and parking advice for each city, and clear rules on diets. That suits adults and teenagers who want a hands-on class with a take-home box in any of the cities, beginners included, and groups who want a private session. Families with children under 8 are pointed to the waffle class instead.
