A Whistler mountain bike operator that rides worldwide

Big Mountain Bike Adventures runs its own guided mountain bike and e-mountain bike trips around the world. The site says "While we operate globally, our roots are in Whistler, BC," and the footer describes Big Mountain Bike Adventures Ltd. as "a company registered in Whistler, Canada (2024)." Its about page states "Since 2002, we have been creating mountain bike adventure tours in unique, and often remote destinations," and adds "Although we've been in operation for over 20 years, we've been involved in the mountain bike adventure travel business for over 50 years."

The featured trips run in New Zealand, Mexico, Morocco, Costa Rica, Italy, Japan, Croatia, Peru and Switzerland, and the destination list adds Bhutan, Botswana, Canada, France, Greenland, Iceland, Nepal, South Africa and Spain. In Canada, 2 trip stories describe a guided e-bike trip around Québec City. The homepage states the mission as "to ignite the spirit of adventure by providing unparalleled mountain biking experiences that connect riders with nature, challenge their limits, and create lasting memories." The trips

The menu sorts trips into MTB, eMTB, Women Only and Type 2 Fun, and a Trip Calendar lists departures. The homepage's featured trips each show a length, a riding level and the bike type:

The homepage describes these as covering "high-alpine singletrack in the Italian Alps" and "flowy forest descents in Oaxaca," and calls them "fully supported, dialed-in experiences." The Trail Tales section also features a father and son on the Tour du Mont Blanc, a Morocco story titled Riding Through Resilience and a Giving Back piece, and introduces a guide in the Himalayas, Sunee Dolma. The homepage says the trips are meant for "a seasoned pro or a newer rider" alike, and the menu has separate Our Community and Giving Back pages.

The Québec trip gets the most detail. A March 2026 article by guide Marc-André Lebuis describes riding near Québec City, which he says has "four major trail centers" within a short radius, including Vallée Bras-du-Nord, with the Neilson and Kraken trails, and Sentiers du Moulin, known for technical lines on granite slabs. He calls it a 5-day trip and says it is "a dream come true for intermediate-plus riders." The article invites readers to join in September 2026, and a second article gives the dates as September 21-26, 2026.

Guides and the riding day

The Québec article says Marc-André has "over 25 years of professional guiding experience and four decades on a bike," has guided "from the Himalayas to the Lofoten Islands and the volcanoes of Hawaii," and founded a small mountain villa in a glacial valley. A guest account from a private 2025 Electric La Belle Province trip describes him picking the group up, driving them to trailheads, choosing trails to suit their level and cooking dinner at his cabin, with nights in the historic district of Québec City, a small hotel run by a former bike racer and a monastery. That guest notes her group were the only riders on the departure, names Sentiers du Moulin and Empire 47 as her favorite trail areas, and describes narrow bridges and steep descents that she found challenging as an intermediate rider.

On e-bikes, Marc-André's interview argues they let riders "maximize your time on the trails without hitting that end-of-the-week wall of exhaustion," with the same descents and "much less fatigue on the climbs," leaving energy for the evening. He also describes the day's rhythm in Québec: forest riding in the morning and a craft beer or a meal in the old city in the evening.

The Why Big Mountain page says the company provides "pre-trip guidance, 24/7 trip support," and that it works with local transport firms, guides, cafes, bike shops and family-run accommodation. It also says "there is no trip created that we haven't taken ourselves." The same page lists its values as Community & Camaraderie, Passion & Integrity, Innovation & Excellence, and Adventure & Exploration, and says its tours "attract riders who don't want to feel like tourists, who seek the thrill of a challenge." The footer also links to Riding Levels, Trip Preparation and eMTB FAQs pages.

Booking and support

Trips are booked from each trip page or the Trip Calendar, and the site has a My Account area for booked riders. The footer links to Travel Protection, Terms & Conditions and a Release of Liability Waiver page. The Québec guest account shows that private departures are run: hers was billed as a Private 2025 trip. Reviews shown on the homepage come from TripAdvisor, dated from 2022 to 2023, and mention the Peru guides Nico and Chente and a Nepal itinerary with stays ranging "from centuries old Mustang tea houses to high end luxury in Pokhara."

What the site does not settle

Prices, deposits, cancellation terms and group sizes are not shown on the homepage or the about and story pages; the trip pages, the Trip Calendar and the Terms & Conditions page are where to look for them. The riding grades are named on each trip card but explained on a separate Riding Levels page, and the homepage and trip stories do not say which languages guides speak or set out a minimum age.

Big Mountain suits confident mountain bikers who want a guided, supported trip on well-known trail networks abroad, and riders curious about e-bikes, since several trips are built around them. Most featured trips are graded Advanced, so newer riders should start with the Intermediate trips in Croatia or Tuscany and read the Riding Levels page before booking.
