What Trafalgar Operates
Trafalgar runs its own guided group tours, each led by what its FAQ calls a "two-person Travel Director and Driver team," plus river cruises on the Rhine and Danube. The About page says "Since 1947, over five million guests have discovered the Trafalgar difference" and sums up its reach as "Six continents, 70+ countries, 240+ tours," split into Europe and Britain, the USA and Canada, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand. The site footer gives an address in St Peter Port, Guernsey, and the About page lists a sister "TTC Portfolio of Brands." The EU version of the site prices in euros.
Numbers vary slightly between sections of the same page: an FAQ answer mentions "more than 300 tours across six continents" and "nearly 80 years," and the rating is given as 4.6 out of 5 from both "150,000+" and "130,000+" reviews.
Tours and Prices
The tour cards list days, countries, locations, a guest rating and a from-price, often with a previous price shown. On the homepage, Best of Portugal runs 11 days from €1,932 (was €2,195), Best of Eastern Canada 9 days from €2,858, Scenic Scandinavia and its Fjords 14 days across 3 countries from €4,455, Tastes and Sounds of the South (Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans) 10 days from €3,488, and Real Britain 6 days from €1,467. The About page adds European Traveller (8 days, 5 countries, from €1,849), Best of Morocco (11 days, from €2,168), Prague, Vienna and Budapest (10 days, from €1,866), Majestic Alaska (10 days, from €4,550), Best of Hawaii (10 days, from €3,466) and a new Outback Icons - Small Group trip in Australia (15 days, from €6,615).
The "ways to go" menu groups trips into Family Tours, Couples Getaways, Last Minute Tours, Single Parent Tours, Food Travel, Safari Tours, Sustainable Tours and Cruise Tours. The homepage advertises savings of up to 15% on last-minute deals. For river cruises, the port-locations page names the ships (Trafalgar Verity on the Rhine, Trafalgar Reverie on the Danube), gives the piers at Arnhem, Basel, Passau, Budapest and Düsseldorf, and describes a complimentary shuttle from the Kunstmuseum Basel for guests without a pre-arranged transfer.
How the Tours Work
The FAQ is detailed. The price covers "your nightly accommodation, daily breakfast (and many other meals), transport on our best-in-class coaches," the Travel Director and Driver, pre-paid experiences listed on the itinerary and "included tips at restaurants and hotels." Luggage is one hold bag of up to 23kg (50lbs) and one piece of hand luggage per guest.
Unusually, group sizes are published. Europe trips average 40 to 45 guests with a maximum of 53; USA and Canada trips have a maximum of 52; Australia and New Zealand 50; Asia (except Sri Lanka) 32; Sri Lanka 48; Africa 36; and Latin America 40 to 45. Guests must be aged 5 and over. The FAQ also notes that the Travel Director and Driver "are unable to provide physical assistance to individual guests" and that travelers should be "medically and physically fit to travel." Those are the company's conditions, stated in its own FAQ. The same answer says travelers should flag dietary or health considerations before the trip, and that the Travel Director and Driver manage tickets, guiding and logistics for the whole group, backed by 24/7 support on the road and behind the scenes.
The About page promises "icons and hidden gems with a Local Specialist by your side," exclusive Be My Guest and Stays with Stories experiences, and "Seamless travel from the moment you book your trip." The FAQ's packing advice is practical: travel documents, insurance and any medication, comfortable walking shoes, layers, a small day bag, a few smart-casual pieces for evenings, and adapters.
The About page quotes guest reviews, chosen by the company. One, on the Greek Island Hopper, says the tour director and driver "went out of their way to ensure the tour was completed with precision and enjoyment for everyone." Another calls Highlights of Peru with Galapagos Islands "mentally stimulating, historically fascinating, and simply wondrous," and a third says Highlights of Australia and New Zealand was "So wonderfully planned and executed."
Booking and Terms
The homepage's flexible-booking promise reads: "Secure your place with a low deposit, with no booking or change fees and the freedom to change your mind up to 90 days before travel." The footer links Booking Conditions and Terms and Conditions, and the About page gives an Irish phone number and invites customers to "call your travel agent." The About page also says the company has earned "over 80 awards," including Feefo's Platinum Trusted Service Award.
Make Travel Matter
"On every tour you'll experience at least one MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience," the About page says. The dedicated page reports that the company's 5-year strategy, How We Tread Right, closed in 2025 with 8 of its 11 goals achieved, sets a target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and says that in 2022, alongside its sister brands, it had near-term, long-term and net zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. The page lists its people and wildlife commitments in plain terms: "We ensure that the true economic benefit of travel is felt by local communities," and "We advocate for the highest standard of ethical wildlife experiences." It also says the company stopped producing giveaway branded merchandise in 2024 after finding it added the equivalent of 6.5 million car-driven miles in emissions.
What the Site Leaves Open and Who It Suits
The homepage and About pages do not state the deposit amount or the cancellation charges after the 90-day window; a Booking Conditions page is linked for those. Accessibility beyond the FAQ's fitness note is not described.
Trafalgar suits travelers who want a fully organized coach tour with hotels, breakfasts, tips and sightseeing covered, a Travel Director handling logistics, and a clear idea of how many fellow guests to expect. The range of trip styles, from single-parent and family tours to river cruises, is broad. It suits less well anyone who needs physical assistance on tour, wants a small group everywhere, or prefers to travel independently.
