What It Is and Where It Operates

Eco Tuk Tours runs its own private tours of Lisbon in electric tuk-tuks, each with "a dedicated guide-driver (storyteller)." Every tour on the site is in Lisbon, and prices are in euros. The About page says the company is part of Boost Portugal, which "Since 2008" has developed tourism brands and today manages "12 global tourism brands, reaching over 600,000 people annually." The footer lists Boost's registration as "RNAAT: 42/2008" and links to its other activities, including Segway, bike and walking tours, day tours and Escape Hunt games in Lisbon and Porto.

The company's claim to the niche is that it came first: the About page says "Eco Tuk Tours Lisboa was the first company in Portugal to introduce the eco-friendly tuk-tuks," and calls Lisbon "the self-proclaimed E-Tuk capital of Europe." It describes its vehicles as "smooth, 100% electric and pollution-free." The homepage says the company is "Extremely proud to be amongst the top 10% of listings around the world on Tripadvisor."

• Follow the Tram 28, from 134,00€, about 2 hours, following the tram route "from the historic streets of Graça and Alfama to the trendy vibes of Chiado."
• Old Town Lisbon, tagged "Express Tour," from 88,00€ (with 104,00€ also shown on the card), about 1h 30m.
• Go West to Belém, from 134,00€, about 2 hours, pitched with "The Golden Age, when the Portuguese ruled the world, begins as soon as we arrive in Belém," and the card adds that "It was from here that many of the great Portuguese explorers set off on their dangerous and ambitious voyages."
• Shore Excursion Half-Day Tuk Tour, from 211,25€, about 3 hours, built "specifically for a shore excursion," covering "old districts such as Mouraria, Graça, Alfama, Chiado."
• Lisbon à la carte, from 190,00€, "1h - 4h," where "Whether you have just an hour or up to four, our experienced driver guides will take you to the most iconic landmarks, breathtaking viewpoints, and vibrant neighbourhoods"; its tagline is "Customize your day, your time, your tour."

The Old Town Lisbon page goes into detail. It covers Alfama, "the oldest and most traditional part of Lisbon," Mouraria, "Lisbon's most multi-ethnic neighborhood," with the tiled façade of the Viúva de Lamego ceramic shop, and Graça, climbing to the Nossa Senhora do Monte viewpoint, "Popular for its spectacular sunset vistas." In Alfama, the page promises "a stroll through the well-preserved Arab district, famous for its small arches, stone-paved terraces," and Graça is described as sitting "on one of Lisbon's seven hills" with "sweeping views over the city and São Jorge Castle." Other listed highlights are Restauradores and its obelisk commemorating the restoration of independence in 1640, at the start of the Avenida da Liberdade; Rua Voz do Operário, named after "the city's oldest workers' association and newspaper"; Largo do Terreiro do Trigo, "Once the city's grain trading hub"; and the National Pantheon, "a majestic baroque monument that took nearly 300 years to complete" and the resting place of fado singer Amália Rodrigues.

How Tours Work

The Old Town Lisbon page lists what is included: a "Private tour with a dedicated guide-driver (storyteller)," "Pick-up and drop-off at Hard Rock Cafe or the Cruise Terminal," "Blankets for cooler weather," "Liability and personal accident insurance," and "All taxes (VAT 6%)." It lists as not included "Hotel pickup and drop-off (extra fee)," "Gratuities" and "Entry fees." Its meeting-point section names the Hard Rock Café and the Cruise Terminal.

The guides, the page says, "are true Lisbon locals with a gift for storytelling," whose "deep knowledge of the city's history, vibrant culture, and hidden gems transforms each moment into an engaging and authentic journey." A note warns that because "this experience is a tuk tuk tour," traffic or other restrictions "may lead to changes in the planned stops in order to meet the schedule." The About page adds, jokingly, that since "Lisbon has 7 hills," riders might "ask him/her to take you on your dream tour."

Booking and Extras

Each tour has a "Book Tour Now" button. The site does not state a cancellation or refund window, a deposit or accepted payment methods, although the contact form refers to Terms and Conditions. It does not say whether the "From" prices are per person or per tuk-tuk, or how the price changes with group size up to 6. Meeting points are given on the Old Town page but not on the homepage cards, and the hotel pickup fee is not stated. The site lists the languages of the website but not the languages guides speak, and it does not address accessibility or children.

Eco Tuk Tours suits visitors who want a private electric tuk-tuk with a local guide, from a quick climb to a viewpoint to a 5-hour day with food tastings, and cruise passengers who need a half-day that starts at the terminal.
