What It Is and Where It Operates
The Tarzan Way is an Indian travel planning and booking service built around an AI assistant called Kaira, with human curators who check each plan before it is booked. It does not run tours itself: the FAQ says Kaira searches flights, hotels, experiences and routes, comparing "1,100+ platforms" in one search, and that unlike a traditional agent working on commission it has "no preferred suppliers". The about page tells a longer story. The company began as a backpacking home-stay in New Delhi, reached 500 travelers, launched a travel program called Social Travel: North India, and set out to fix what it saw as gaps in Indian travel: personalization, culturally immersive experiences, transparency in costs, and misinformation. That page counts 250 curated experiences, 30 villages empowered and 520 local partners, and lists aims that include building experiences for people who cannot easily travel because of age, gender, finances or disability, and instilling leadership skills in young people through travel. The homepage now pitches worldwide trips, claiming 100+ countries, and its sample trips run from Bali, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Borneo, Dubai and the Maldives to Japan and Europe, with Indian trips such as Rajasthan in winter, Kerala's backwaters, Ladakh in July and Bhutan from Delhi. Prices are shown in Indian rupees, and the destination ideas on the page, such as Bhutan from Delhi, speak to travelers starting from India.
How the AI and Human Curators Work
The homepage sets out 4 steps. First, "Tell Kaira what's on your mind": budget, dates and must-haves, and the page says "Write like you'd text a friend" in Hindi, Hinglish or English. Second, "A travel expert fine-tunes it": an on-ground curator "adjusts what Kaira can't feel: monsoon timing, overrated spots, the quiet ghat at 6am", and the example given is Nimmi, who swaps Hoi An for Da Nang in a given month. The FAQ describes the curator as a person based in, or with deep experience of, the destination, who catches things like a road that floods in August or a restaurant that has slipped. Third, unlimited revisions in chat: different hotels, an extra night, more activities. Fourth, "Book only what you pick", with "Transparent pricing, no hidden markups". The FAQ claims Kaira builds a complete itinerary in under 2 minutes. The homepage lists 20+ human experts, an average reply time of 2 seconds, and says 94% of travelers come back for a second trip.
Sample Trips and Prices
Ready-made trips are grouped as honeymoon, family, adventure, quick escape and premium, each marked "Tailor in chat" so it can be changed. A Bali Affair, a honeymoon through Ubud and Kuta credited to Muskan Agarwal, includes flights, 2 stays, 3 activities and private transfers from ₹77,406 per person. The European Daydream, credited to Somya Singhal, runs Interlaken, Zurich, Lucerne and Paris with flights, 4 stays and 6 activities from ₹2,32,504 per person. Phu Quoc Before Forever is a family trip from ₹66,170, Love, Vietnam covers Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with 9 activities from ₹1,25,751, The Soul of Japan runs Tokyo, Nagoya, Takayama and Kanazawa from ₹2,81,007, and Paris, Amsterdam, Amore takes in 5 stays across Europe from ₹2,23,914. Kaira's seasonal picks suggest Japan for 9 days at around ₹1.6L per person and Bali for 8 days at around ₹68K. The homepage adds that "Prices indicative. Kaira re-prices live based on your dates, travellers, and starting location", so these are starting points rather than fixed fares.
The homepage also runs a set of traveler stories that show what the curators are meant to add, told in the company's own words. In Hoi An, Kaira found the street and Nimmi picked the shop for a ₹40 egg coffee from a woman who has poured them for 34 years. In the Maldives, Kaira flagged a 23% drop on a water-villa upgrade the night before departure. In Bali, a family's day 4 water-park visit was swapped for a ricefield bike tour after their 8-year-old asked, and a traveler in Thailand switched from Krabi to Koh Lanta mid-chat. Themed collections cover the Maldives on a budget using local islands, Japan in cherry blossom season, Vietnam with kids, Thailand long weekends and Europe in summer, alongside solo, family, adventure and luxury itineraries.
Booking, Cancellation and Support
Planning is free, and the site repeats "You only pay when you book." The sample checkout on the homepage reads "book in 30 seconds. Cancel up to 48h before", and the same section says travelers can "Book, swap, or cancel anything from inside the chat". The FAQ says there is no upfront planning fee and no hidden fees or markups on the flights, hotels and experiences chosen. Reviews on the homepage are Google reviews, and the site gives an overall 4.9 across 10,000+ trips. One reviewer describes a Vietnam trip where "the team was responsive and attentive from start to finish"; another describes "A last-minute solo trip to Greece, curated in under 12 hours". A third mentions "support available even late at night". The about page describes the aim as travel with "24/7 live support", and it says that during the pandemic the team "had to improvise fast and we had to improvise smartly", introducing a Caravan experience and touchless service for partners. Contact is by the chat and an email address. The FAQ also sets Kaira against ChatGPT, arguing that a general chatbot gives ideas while Kaira turns them into a bookable trip, which is the company's own positioning rather than a tested comparison.
What the Site Leaves Open, and Who It Suits
"Cancel up to 48h before" appears on a sample itinerary, but the site does not say whether every flight, hotel and activity in a trip carries the same terms, which matters when bookings come from many platforms, so check each component before paying. The pages also say little about group sizes or guide languages for the activities booked. The Tarzan Way suits Indian travelers who want a complete, bookable itinerary quickly, like planning by chat in Hindi, Hinglish or English, and want a human to sanity-check the plan. Prices are quoted in rupees throughout, so travelers budgeting in another currency will need to convert every figure.
