Green Line Tours is a Rome sightseeing company that runs its own open-top hop-on hop-off buses in Rome, a night bus tour, guided walking tours of the city and the Vatican, day trips to Naples, Pompeii and Umbria, and hotel packages. The about page says "Founded in 1978, Green Line Tours is a Sightseeing Company established to respond to the ever growing demand for sightseeing tours in Rome and in the major Italian cities," and that it promoted itself early on with the slogan "Matter of Details." Its office is at Via Farini 16 in Rome, and the footer gives a regional license, Delibera Regione Lazio n. 8180 del 23/12/1986. The menu also lists a Hop-On Hop-Off Civitavecchia service. Prices are in euros.

The about page says the company's staff, direct and outsourced, number "over 130 units" working in "the 5 operating units in Rome and in the 2 permanent representations in Naples and Moscow." Since the 2000s it has also run a brand called Dreaming Italy for inbound tourism, mainly from India and Russia, and it has "a Japanese mother tongue team."

The hop-on hop-off bus and the night tour

The headline product is the Hop-On Hop-Off Rome bus, which the homepage describes as a way to "Discover the historical and archaeological places in Rome on board of an open top double decker bus with multilingual audio-guides and Wi-fi." The card lists it at 1.30 hours, priced from € 22 and on sale from € 20,90. A Green Line Tours app on Google Play shows "the route and stops of our Hop On Hop Off" and suggested points of interest.

The Nighttime Open-Top Bus Tour, sold as Rome by Night, starts at 8:00 PM, lasts 1:30 hours and costs from € 23. A September 2026 blog post describes the illuminated landmarks on the route, starting with the Colosseum.

The about page says the double-decker open-top buses, "Historically called torpedoes," have run the panoramic tour "since 2006," and that it "has been very successful and appreciated by customers."

The footer's best sellers add a Rome Bus Tour to Eataly, a skip-the-line Vatican tour and a Day Trip to Florence, and the tour menu has sections for Rome surroundings, Umbria, the Naples gulf and Tuscany. The about page says the catalog covers day trips "from Florence to Assisi, from Naples to Pompeii, from Sorrento to the island of Capri," and the Rome tours page mentions cooking lessons with a qualified chef. That page pitches the guided walks around the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican, led by "our expert guides," and calls the hop-on hop-off a way to "experience Rome at 360 degrees." The homepage calls the bus "The best way to start visiting Rome!" The blog adds practical posts, including one on how to get free tickets for a Papal Audience, which is worth reading before paying for the guided Papal Audience product.

Packages

The packages page offers "4 nights in a hotel, tour, hop-on hop-off, and private transfer to and from the airport." The named packages are Classic Rome, The Voice of Rome, The Flavors of Rome, The Perfumes of Rome and Rome to Touch, plus the 8 days, 7 nights trips Tiber to Arno (Rome and Florence) and Tiber to Vesuvius (Rome and Naples). Fleet and history

The about page gives a detailed fleet history. During the 1980s, it says, the company concentrated on building a commercial network before investing in its own vehicles. In the following decade it bought Iveco 315 Poker coaches and ordered "10 buses with 26 seats" built to look like "small Old Style streetcars," registered as the "Greeny Tram," with Iveco diesel engines and catalytic converters that the page presents as an early nod to environmental sustainability. In 1998 it added the "Concorde," "a vehicle with 50 seats with Mercedes-Benz engine," for a deluxe direct tour to Pompeii. It says today's fleet "is of Premium category with an average life of 48/60 months."

Tours are booked online, by email at booking@greenlinetours.com, or by phone on +39 06 483787 from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 6:30 pm, with a chat-only line on +39 320 065 3421 every day from 07:00 to 18:30. Every page carries the same cancellation policy: cancellations "Up to 24 hours / one working day prior to departure: no penalty," less than 24 hours before or a no-show is a "100% penalty," and for tours that include entrance tickets "a penalty of euro 30,00 per person will be applied cause entrance tickets are not refundable." The footer also links to General conditions, Certifications and a Service card.

What the site does not settle

The homepage and tour pages do not list the hop-on hop-off stops (the app and map hold them), the languages of the audio guide, or the meeting points for the guided tours. Package prices are shown only after clicking into each package, and group sizes for the guided tours are not stated.
