Macs Adventure is a Scottish company that arranges self-guided walking and cycling holidays: it books the accommodation, moves the luggage and supplies the route, and travelers walk or ride on their own, with no guide and no group. Routes and trip types

The site groups its hundreds of trips into five categories. Classic Routes cover the great trails, such as the West Highland Way, the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Elbe Cycle Path. Pilgrimage and Camino trips cover the Camino de Santiago variants. Slower Adventures have lower daily mileage and more free time. A comfort-focused style uses boutique hotels, wine estates and country castles. Discovery tours combine walks with driving or rail.

In Britain, the West Highland Way is presented as Scotland's most popular trail, 96 miles from Glasgow into the Highlands, sold as an 8 Days & 7 Nights itinerary among others. The Coast to Coast is offered in several versions, including a 16-day option the site calls its most relaxed and an 18 Days & 17 Nights version. Trips can start on any date and are booked online or through the specialists in Glasgow and Denver. Glasgow's office hours are Monday to Friday 07:00am to 5:30pm and Saturday 09:00am to 5:00pm, with the head office phone 0141 530 8886; the Denver team works Monday to Friday 08:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 09:00am to 4:30pm MST. What the pages leave open, and who it suits

No prices, deposits or cancellation terms appear on the overview pages, so each trip page and the booking conditions are where to check them. Because trips are self-guided, there is no leader on the trail, so walkers need to be comfortable following an app and route notes. The site's commitments to trail maintenance, B Corp certification and carbon measurement are listed, though progress on B Corp is described as an aim rather than a result.

Macs suits independent walkers and cyclists who want the classic long-distance routes, from the West Highland Way to the Camino, with hotels and bags handled and the freedom to set their own dates and company. It does not suit travelers who want a guide or a group to travel with. For self-guided trips, its route list is long and backed by a round-the-clock phone line.
